Today restrictions on circulation began in Mexico City and in several municipalities of the State of Mexico for vehicles with a yellow sticker whose license plate ends in 5 or 6. These limitations are part of the Hoy no Circula program and are in effect from 05:00 to 22:00 hours.
In the State of Mexico, the measure applies in municipalities such as Atizapán, Ecatepec, Naucalpan, among others. In Mexico City, it covers all boroughs, including Álvaro Obregón, Iztapalapa, Coyoacán, among others.
Those who violate these regulations will be penalized with fines ranging from 20 to 30 times the Measurement and Update Unit, as well as facing the towing of their vehicle to the impound lot, with additional costs.
The restrictions also affect vehicles with a circulation hologram 1, dividing the days they cannot circulate depending on whether the license plate ends in an even or odd number. Additionally, the circulation of foreign vehicles is prohibited on Saturdays and during certain hours from Monday to Friday, according to the last digit of their license plate.
However, certain vehicles are exempt from these restrictions, such as agricultural tractors, emergency units, electric vehicles, among others. Exceptions are also provided for medical emergencies or other special situations, according to current laws and regulations.
